Fish Lake was a bit shorter this year due to family coming in and girls camp which were both exciting things as well. We always look forward to fish lake because it's quiet and beautiful and because we spend a lot of time together as a family hiking, playing games, fishing, eating, and watching movies and just plain get to spend quality time with each other. This year ripped my heart out as I had to leave Cade with the neighbors for football camp & that is the first family vacation he has ever missed. Hoping not to repeat that next year.
There is a rickety old lodge there that we love to walk to and get treats to eat on the deck and look over the water but we also eat in the restaurant every year as well.
My mom and dad come with us every year and this year my sister came with her 3 kids for a few days while her husband was on high adventure with the scouts.
Coby of course files a knife out of some scrap of wood that was laying around. That boy can make something out of just about any old thing laying around.
Chris and Conner went on their annual 10 mile hike this year. About an hour after I dropped them off it was a torrential down pour but I went back to get them & they had never come back and just carried on the rest of the way. Conner had an easier time making it this year then his dad did.
Grandpa took Coby and Kelbi to fish for perch but it was way to cold so we went back. However they went later & got a couple which Coby tried to bring home as pets. He ended up with one dead & the other we released in the river and it's swimming somewhere in Utah lake happily now I'm sure.
Coby was our lumber jack this year. He found huge dead logs everywhere & chopped & chopped until we had perfect firewood. He is a crazy hard worker when he puts his mind to something.
Conner crashed after his hike and decided to lay down with Kelbi and watch a movie. Kelbi got completely sick near the end of our trip & we had to stop in at the doctor on the way home. We did breathing treatments and steroids but she ended up going back with walking pneumonia anyway. It's all good though she is on the mend now after about a week and a half.
Conner, Nanny, and I played many games of sequence in fact we stayed up till midnight the last night having a tournament.
Coby spent lots of time trying to figure out ways to cook smores more effectively like stuffing the marshmallows with chocolate then cooking them, also he tried just melting chocolate on the graham crackers while holding it between to hot dog sticks and I don't know how many other concoctions.
The last night I spread the fire out to burn out and one of the ashes landed on my dads neck although none of us knew until about 5 minutes later he screamed out and ended up with a blister on his neck....I laughed myself silly but I really did feel bad about it.
Fish Lake was fun and we look forward to next year!
