Annual Fish Lake & Otter Creek Trip

We just got back from our annual trip to Fish Lake & Otter Creek. We love to go and just enjoy the peace and quiet and the smell of the forest. Chris started our trip out with a 16 mile hike across the top of the mountains around fish lake and he did it in about 51/2 hours. We made several bike rides and walks to the lodge and the Bowery creek store and we ate lunch at the lodge restaurant overlooking the lake. My mom took pictures of the lodge restaraunt and hopefully I can get them and post them soon because it is really neat. My mom got the boys and Chris their yearly fish lake T-shirts and they were really excited. The boys also enjoyed taking off their shoes and walking in the river, playing dominos, catching bugs, watching late night movies in the trailer with glow sticks, and catching perch with grandpa Jody. After 4 nights at fish lake it was off to Otter Creek. We drive through a bunch of small towns and we especially like Koosharem where everyone drives wheelers so we had to take a picture at the gas station because it just cracks us up. The store there has old wood floors and looks right out of the 50's or something but we just love to go and look. We also ate at the Koosharem Cafe and that was really fun. Once at Otter Creek the boys went nuts catching craw dads and minnows but the ultimate was "Thorn" our new pet the spined lizard(lucky me!) We rafted the river the first day and it was so slow it took us 2 hours to go a couple of miles so we got in at an adventurous spot the next day and got dumped a few times. My dad came really prepared with All a Dollar tubes(not) so we bought 4 better tubes at the little store but the junky ones made it adventurous and fun. The boys kept about 10 big trout and we plan to smoke them and have a party. We planned to only spend 2 nights at Otter Creek but the kids begged us to stay another and so we did. We went in search for a shake for Chris the second day at Otter Creek and went to about three little towns and came up dry but we really love to see all the little stores. Kelbi was a real trooper and did great. It was a great trip and the best part was no cell phone or email, we had Chris completely to ourselves. There is a lot I love about the city but I sure enjoy the simple life with family.

That looks like so much fun! We used to go to Fish Lake and Otter Creek a lot growing up. The simple life is the best!

That looks like such a great place to go, no wonder you decided to stay an extra night. I bet you love coming home with new pets, just hypnotize it when it is bugging you. You should blog about that.
